Meet Ty Ricardson, Truth in Love with Ty
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren, thank you for taking the opportunity to have this conversation with me. I want to congratulate you on taking the plunge that most of us are too afraid to take due to being scared of what the outside world may think. Now what I need you to do is pucker up and share with our lipstick lounge… Do you remember how old you were when you became obsessed and fell in love with being a life coach? How did health/ fitness and dating fall into the equation?”
Ty Richardson:
“Thank you for the invite sis, you know I’m here for all of this. My dad tells me that I have always been a nurturer and motivator even as a child. He tells stories of me bringing home neighborhood children, schoolmates, and even stray animals. The dating piece is still coming together, but it fell into my lap. Many of my single clients lost weight and were ready for love so, I decided to add matchmaking and relationship coaching to the menu. More to come on that front…”
Nicci Writes It:
“Fren, do you recall the moment YOU decided, ‘okay, I’ve discovered my calling? ‘Being a Life Coach’ is LIFE”
Ty Richardson:
“Funny, I didn’t embrace this gift until about 5 years ago when I created my weight loss coaching program Rapid Results Weight Loss which at the end of the day is a life coaching program focused on weight and wellness”
Werds Nicci Wrote:
“Fren, Ty’s experience… how did you fall in love with life coaching/health & fitness?”
Ty Richardson:
“Watching several family members injecting insulin to control their type 2 diabetes was a whole wake up call for me. At 10 years old I started going to the library researching exactly what diabetes was and how to avoid getting it, (sidenote…I’m terrified of needles) I learned that type 2 diabetes genetic which made me upset until I later learned that it can be controlled and even avoided all together through a healthy lifestyle…I was sold. I started lecturing folks about what to eat, how to exercise and why (I’m sure that I was mad annoying as I look back)”
Nicci Writes It:
“Fren, talk about your babies, Rapid Results Weight Loss/The SOFE Cookie Company, Truth in Love with Ty, and Matched by Ty?”
Ty Richardson:
“Rapid Results was born out of my desire to educate people into a healthier lifestyle. I was a huge hit and my greatest accomplishment to date. I hire former clients who want to pay it forward and coach as well. The SOFE GrIll (parent of the cookie company) was born of the need to refer my clients to healthier prepared food eateries.”
“There were not many and certainly not many black owned options and so I decided to fill that void by opening what started out as a salad and smoothie bar in back of my fitness studio (Studio One Fitness Events S.O.F.E) and grew into a brick-and-mortar business with several locations. I credit the success of SOFE Grill to my love of food and making good-for-you alternatives to heavier prepared food options…oh, and my food is amazing so that helps.”
“Truth in Love Life Coaching came about as I realized that many of my clients wanted to have me coach them through other major life events such as conflict resolution, career development and time management. It was a natural progression for former clients, but I have also had clients hire me exclusively for non-health and wellness goals.”
“Matched by Ty is still coming together, but it fell into my lap. Many of my single clients lost weight and were ready for love so, I decided to add matchmaking and relationship coaching to the menu. More to come on that front…”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren, do you have a niche clientele? What celebrity would you love to personally train, love to be a life & dating coach for? & Why?”
Ty Richardson:
“My niche client is a lot like me. She is educated, ambitious and looking to live her best life. She is confident yet coachable and open to self-reflection and self-improvement. She knows her worth.”
“My dream fitness client would be Oprah because I don’t believe that she ever had someone guide her to living a balanced life. I have watched her weight fluctuate and I have seen her fitness ambition come and go but no balance between the two. She is mad rich and all, but she does not look healthy in my opinion.”
“My dream life coaching client would be Jess Hilarious the Instagram comedian. That woman drips insecurity and has no idea how beautiful and deserving of love she is without thirst trapping ass shot all over the gram.”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren, you stepped out on faith and started Rapid Results Works, Truth in Love with Ty & Matched by Ty? How did you get started? How did it take off?”
Ty Richardson:
“My first business was truly a leap. I had a young child and at the time my husband, who worked nights, was having a hard time caring for the baby while I was at work. After 3 panicked speeding drives home to check on them when he didn’t answer the phone, he was sleep…baby, awake, I had to come up with a plan to make money from home and SOFE was that solution. All my following ventures were natural progressions from my natural coaching instincts and business acumen.”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren, the werds, women, and wine crew wants to know where do you see Rapid Results Weight Loss, Truth in Love with Ty & Matched by Ty in 3 years?”
Ty Richardson:
“Matched will be on ice for a little while longer while I manage the relaunching of SOFE Grill this year! Truth in Love with Ty will continue to grow as I create relatable content on my social media outlets and on my podcast with same title. I would love to see little Rapid Results weight loss and wellness centers all around the city (eventually the world) in black and brown neighborhoods. My methods are truly for us by us and my dream would to be known as the weight loss coaching service for black folks primarily. In conjunction with the brick-and-mortar weight loss chain, I would love to host a radio show which highlights my passions and interests and allows me to interact with women everywhere about their health and, happiness.”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren your communication skills. How do you converse with a client who says, ‘I don’t agree with your advice, you’ve got my situation all wrong.’
Ty Richardson:
“Well, I’m happy to say that I have overcome much worse than this hypothetical pushback in my career. This is where establishing a relationship of trust is so important before you attempt to guide or advise someone. Once someone trusts you, you have their open heart and mind because you have earned it…now, some folks are just argumentative for the sake of being difficult. These people meet the side of me that responds “in kind” to people being intentionally rude or difficult…bye.”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren Ty’s dreams. What’s a dream motivational speaking job for you?”
Ty Richardson:
“I want to travel the world teaching people how simple, not easy, it is to establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying life. Folks have been inundated with information, and misinformation in the area of weight loss and wellness. I want to make it make sense.”
Werds Nicci Wrote:
“Hey Fren what are 3 items you can’t ever be without?”
Ty Richardson:
“1. my phone
2. my coffee
3. my Tito’s
ok, seriously…my discernment which deeps me present and engaged whenever I interact with others. My compassion which makes it hard to be judgmental and keeps me empathetic toward myself and others. My ambition which does not allow me to stop walking one foot in front of the other toward my dreams…can’t stop, won’t stop!”
Werds Nicci Wrote:
“Hey Fren the werds, women and wine crew wants to know what do you love the most about the life coach life?”
Ty Richardson:
“I love that I am helping women reach self-actualization, their best, most authentic self. We are a powerful force when we know who we are…and are not.”
Werds Nicci Wrote:
“Hey Fren the werds, women, and wine crew wants to know about Ty’s portfolio. Do you have one?”
Ty Richardson:
“When I read this question, it took me back to Cleveland State University senior advising class. I have been a health and wellness advocate my entire 21-year career. I eat, sleep and dream wellness. I have worked with such organizations as the Greater Cleveland YMCA, Bally Total Fitness and Cleveland Heights Department of Parks and Recreation as well as several small privately owned wellness facilities and I have gained a wealth of knowledge from my expansive career. The only thing that was missing was someone in leadership who looked like me…black and female. I’m here to change that for the next generation of women wellness entrepreneurs.”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren the lipstick lounge wants to know about representation? Do you have an agent? (Don’t worry if this doesn’t apply, just answer no)
Ty Richardson:
“I NEED A BOOKING AGENT!!”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren the werds, women, and wine crew wants to know about Ty’s skills. How do you perfect your weight loss/life coaching/dating coach skills?”
Ty Richardson:
“I perfect my skills by never feeling like I have learned all that there is to know about this field. I don’t make assumptions about a person’s desire or ability to change when properly motivated and I never stop studying the new trends and scientific developments in the wellness industry.”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren the werds, women and wine crew wants to know about speaking events. How do you get the word out about your services?”
Ty Richardson:
“I am a terrible salesperson! Because I am the product, it feels vein to go on about how good I am at what I do…but I am the best and so I have learned to passively market my businesses with client testimonials and informative videos that allow people to get to know me as a person.”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey fren the werds, women and wine crew wants to know about Ty’s advice for future weight loss/life coaches? Or those wanting to become a motivational speaker but aren’t confident in their ability?”
Ty Richardson:
“Know yourself. You have to know what you are really interested in versus what you are good at doing. If it is something that you would do for free than you are on the right track…but get paid please.”
Nicci Writes It:
“Hey Fren the werds, women and wine crew wants to know what’s Ty’s favorite quote & why it’s your favorite?”
Ty Richardson:
“in all things seek balance” It reminds me to stay centered.
