Nicci’s 6 Ways to Write Juicy Copy for Social Media
Fren, writing is like BREATHING to me.
It’s essential to my mental health that these slender fingers of mine caress these laptop keys so that I can get these thoughts out of my mind.
I’m not going to lie, writing has always come easy to me. I feel like the moment my teachers let me loose with paper and pen, I was able to create my own lane and truly thrive and perfect my craft.
While working as a news producer, one thing I learned was the importance of CONVERSATIONAL CHARISMATIC COPY. It was what set our station apart from our competition. We were able to push the envelope and spoke a language our demographic thoroughly enjoyed and could relate to. We could refer to criminals as creeps, crooks, clowns, etc. You get what I’m saying? Our tribe (audience) got a KICK out of it!
I’m noticing the same rules apply to social media.
Whatever your brand is, Whoever your tribe is, THEY are the people you’re speaking/dying to engage with too whenever you post. For instance, let’s say you’ve created a new sweet wine brand for the boogie Black woman. Then off the bat, you should already know your tribe will consist of late twenty to thirty-something-year-old Black college-educated women who may or may not be members of the Divine 9, making six figures. These women are looking for a wine that is sassy, sophisticated, sultry, and sensual to their palette, so you will create grown ‘n sexy conversation that will have them longing to pop the cork of that deliciously sweet libation the moment they key into their home and slip out of their red bottoms.
Same goes for car companies looking to sell minivans to suburban soccer moms, living in a gated subdivision in the segregated secluded part of town where police will SHOW up instantly when you call them. Are you getting the picture now?
Now let’s get into these 6 Werdy Ways to write juicy ass copy for socials…
Before You Begin
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you.

Let’s KiKi
Fren, if you cannot converse in a way that intrigues your tribe then I’m sorry but you might as well stop now. Think about HOW you attracted your man, woman, partner, etc? What did you do that GRABBED their attention and reeled them in?
Social media experts say:
Be funny
Spill tea
Get personal share a story
Post a motivational quote
Reality Round Ups (give a synopsis on your favorite show)
Post a recent picture of yourself
Describe your brand in 5 werds or less
What’s one product you can’t live without
Conversation starters are a way for you to open up to your tribe, and build trust. The more transparent you are, the more transparent they will be in the comments below. You’ll get to know them, they’ll get to know a little more about you and an authentic relationship will form. The more you share, the more they’ll trust. Once the trust is built, you can start sharing your products and services with your tribe and they will be knocking down the door to support your business.

Edutain your Tribe
Fren, your goal is to be the one stop shop your tribe needs. If they have an issue or are looking for something, it’s up to YOU to be able to spoil them by providing them with invaluable products and services the only way YOU can so they will remain loyal and ALWAYS shop with you instead of your competition.
Think about it. Nike has established itself as an athletic brand that brings inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world. Now think about the first time you slipped your feet into a pair of Nikes or have put on any of the clothing. I bet the moment you did, you were hooked and probably never looked in Adidas, Reebok, or Under Armor’s way.
Once you’ve established a connection and have formed a bond with your tribe, you want to keep them edutained at all times. You brand should always be GIVING. It should be giving: advice, tea, tips, food for thought, comedic relief at times and keeping your tribe inspired. Don’t be a one trick pony. Your brand should be engaging, enlightening, and empowering nonstop. You want to keep your tribe THIRSTY for more so they will continue rocking with you even when a new brand mirroring yours hops on Beyonce’s internet.

Evoke Emotion
Writing is hard AF.
A brand writing in a way that hits their tribe in the HEARTSTRINGS is next level sh!t. The goal is to speak your tribe’s language by using short simple words that will resonate and provoke them to take the call to action you’re requesting. You have to use those magic ingredients to tap into their emotional space…
You literally have to shoot your shot, but instead of a ball, you’re using your pen. Please don’t use chaotic werd clutter because they’ll see thru the bullsh!t and keep it pushing.
Chaotic werd clutter ~ unnecessary, gratuitous, irrelevant, redundant, superfluous werds used by an influencer that muddles their message. See all those werds I used but didn’t need to just to get my point across? Keep your message short, sweet, and simple. No one wants to come to your website and hop off it in seconds cause it was doing to much for no damn reason. If you have a point, make it CLEAR. Remember you have 1 time to make a first and lasting impression.
Use Empathy as a way to bridge the gap between your brand and tribe.
Feel your tribe’s pain. Once your tribe believes YOU get it, you understand their pain, they will trust that YOU (your products/services) may be the answer to solving their problems too.
You have to dig deep.
For instance: After your tribe is hooked you need to do 2 things
Appeal to their unfulfilled dreams/desires
Appeal to their fear of missing out
Let me dig a little deeper to show y’all…
Think about Nike and how not only does it sell quality sportswear, but it appeals to the “inner hero” of its tribe by utilizing storytelling to make connections by flipping the script and of turning its tribe into the “hero” and villain of their personal stories…
Check it… Nike challenges us all to perform better, run faster etc… but sometimes you don’t feel up to performing better or running faster which means you end up forcing yourself to “JUST DO IT” and push harder and blow past the insecurities (your mind ~ villain) has you believing and turn back into the hero.
Apple has also made emotional connections with its tribe by encouraging them to “Think Different”. When you think about it, the emotional connections we make with our favorite brands is a true testament to how they’ve pulled at our heartstrings, gained our trust and turned us into loyal customers sooo much so whenever a Jordan tennis shoe or new iPhone drops the lines will be wrapped around the corner with eager customers waiting with excitement to get their hands upon the latest creation.
What you need to do is practice, practice, practice on HOW you’re going to make that primal connection with your dream tribe, cause when you find that common ground a lasting relationship will be formed resulting in a loyal client for life.

Tell that story, Sis
I’m a sucka for a good romance story that ends with both the leading lady and man receiving their happily ever after
Fren, your tribe is HURTING. They’re facing adversity and your job is to help them overcome those adversities. For example I’ll never forget I was on the verge of turning 30. Facebook had launched and I was getting reacquainted with former classmates, family members etc. Ladies on my timeline were linking up with the loves of their lives, getting engaged, married, having babies, and yet there I was ~ SINGLE. Not realizing my singledom was in fact a true blessing. I met this pulpit pimp professing to be a man of GOD and immediately BELIEVED he was my husband-to-be. We got engaged and were about to walk down the aisle on Father’s Day 2010. The relationship with a nightmare and I was soon involved with a manipulative narcissist who had me believing HE was the only family I needed to rely upon. The relationship took a toxic turn with him turning out to be the most mentally abusive, lying, cheating man I’ve ever met. I was scared to leave. I was thinking that I’d never find anyone else, and was thinking he would change. What got me thru this situation? My family’s prayers, tears, and their constantly telling me, “Nicci, you are enough, walk away. God will bless you with the person he designed especially for you. I had to love myself enough and find the strength in knowing as GOD’s child I needed to walk away for my mental, emotional, and physical health to be restored. I also began the process of unknowingly starting my copywriting and consulting business which is what got me thru as well.
Sis, check out the formula:
Introduce the pain. Show how the character of the story had a normal life, then how that life was shattered by a change of events. See? I introduced myself showing how I had a normal life while single, but didn’t enjoy it and ended up putting myself in a whole ass situation I didn’t need to be in by getting involved with a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Conflict: How is the life of the main character threatened if he or she does not respond to the problem? What does her journey look like as she tackles this challenge? My life was threatened because I ignored red flags of abuse which kept rearing its ugly head in thru his berating and accusing me of cheating.
Dialogue: Conversations with my family saying, “Nicci, you are enough, walk away. God will bless you with the person he designed especially for you.
Solution: Me walking away from the toxicity of this relationship, concentrating on my writing and discovering I have a gift and talent of dishing out writing advice

Write to sell, Sis!
If you haven’t recognized by now all writing is SELLING.
Writing SELLS a chance for an individual to shoot their shot, sell their products/services, ideas, and hope. Before you sell your copy to your tribe, you have to know WHAT you’re selling before you can begin to write.
Your tribe are the people who become part of your VILLAGE. If you grasp their attention and reel them in, they will share your content on their social media, talk about it, blog about it, and promote what you’re doing ~ because you’ve SOLD your idea well in turn to them BUYING into your BRAND.
Do it so well your tribe becomes eager to buy. Remember the way to do it is to sell the idea behind your product/services first showing your potential tribe WHY they need what you’re selling. Make sure you build the buzz. Selling tangible products/services is easier to convince your tribe into believing they need it.
Sell your tribe identity if they want to belong because you know people thrive off a sense of belonging. For instance take young women on a college campus looking to gain membership into Black Greek Sororities. These women are longing to be part of unique sisterhoods that’ll last a lifetime.
